Ok, so there were only 9 of us racing, but we still had a great time at the first 24hr mountain bike race of the season. The weather was fine, the riding divine, the water was clear and tasted like beer, 'til some damn fool turned it all into wine.

24 Hours in the Ol' Pueblo... Tucson, AZ 

Cutthroat had 9 members racing on 4 different teams:
5 person coed: SL,UTs-  CTR members- Amy, Jenny, Dave, Doug. Plus- Julie
4 person singlespeed: Singlephiles- CTR members- Derryl, Ryan, Steve. Plus- Troy
Duo men: The Electric Acid Duo Test- CTR member- Bryon.  Plus- Jeremi
and CTR member- Jim rode with some guys from the Bikeman.com team

The CTR compound had the brightest tent in the city, with our generator, 3 fluorescent shoplights and a battery charging station, an all night fire raging and racers constantly on the move. We had a BBQ grill cooking steaks, tofu-rkey and grilled pastrami and cheese sandwiches. We had piles of pasta with homemade meatballs, homemade cheesecake and plenty of beer.

There were a few flats, a couple broken seat clamps, a worn out cassette and a few other adjustments, but overall we were mechanically sound. Jenny and Amy both collected some cholla cactus, as did my dog, Alex, but only minimal medical attention was required.

All of our racers finished and met whatever goals they had set for themselves. The 5 person team had 2 complete virgins to 24hr racing and they vowed to be back. Jenny raced her first last year at this race... and look where she is. Our singlespeed team finished 4th (on the 'modified' podium) and our duo team finished all the laps they had planned to race.

Cutthroat racing is off to a fine start this season. We hope to see you out there.
